Liz Davis: Hoping a Customer Will Buy The Dairy Godmother in Del Ray

Davis tells Washington Post she'd like to continue working at The Dairy Godmother one or two days a week.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The news last week, that The Dairy Godmother's owner Liz Davis had closed up shop after nearly 17 years, (but open to offers from buyers) was a bombshell for Del Ray residents, who see the frozen custard shop as a big part of the fabric of the tight-knit community. Davis tells The Washington Post's John Kelly Tuesday that the best-case scenario is for a customer to buy the shop and let her work there a day or two a week.

Davis, like many hands-on business owners, said it was time for her to get out. “I’ve worked every Saturday and Sunday my whole adult life,” she said. “I want to get out of here before they carry me out in a box. Because that would be sad.”
