Metro, Bus, Parking Information for Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Alexandria
Here's information on metro, bus schedules and parking in Alexandria on MLK Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 16.

Here's a look at some holiday schedule information for Metro, bus service and parking in Alexandria for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 16.
Metro service will operate as follows, according to an announcement this week from Metro:
- Metrorail: The rail system will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight. Trains will operate on a Saturday schedule every 12 minutes with no track work scheduled. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day, and parking will be free at all Metro-operated facilities.
- Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Saturday supplemental schedule, with some late-night (post-midnight) trips canceled on selected routes. For details, please check the bus timetable for your route.
- MetroAccess: Service will operate normal hours. However, subscription trips will be canceled unless specifically requested.
In addition, Metro's customer information call center will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday. Automated information is available 24/7 by calling (202) 637-7000.

Bus Service
Fairfax Connector bus service: All routes operate regular weekday service except:

- Routes 231, 232, 335, 393, 394, 395, 422, 432, 461, 494, 495, 556, 585, 599, 624, 634, 644, 724, and 985, which will NOT operate at all; and
- Route 980, which will run every 12-15 minutes instead of every 6-8 minutes.
DASH bus service in Alexandria: DASH will operate a Saturday schedule. The King Street Trolley will operate a regular schedule from 10 a.m. – 10:15 p.m.
Parking in Alexandria: In accordance with Virginia law lifting certain parking restrictions on state holidays, on both Jan. 13 and 16, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of:
- parking restrictions at metered spaces,
- HOV regulations,
- residential permit parking districts, and
- other areas with signed parking time limits.
