Monday's Delays and Closings in Alexandria
A late March snowstorm across the DC area dumped 1 to 4 inches (and counting) of snow across the region late Sunday night and Monday morning.
Most schools in Alexandria are closed for spring break, but city offices and facilities will be open as scheduled Monday despite the early morning spring snow.
Unscheduled leave is permitted for employees. Emergency personnel must report as scheduled. Federal government workers also must report on time Monday.
The city did cancel the monthly scheduled meeting of Alexandria Housing Development Corp., which was to be held at 6 p.m. Monday at 801 N. Pitt St.
Alexandria is under a winter weather advisory until noon Monday. City crews have been working in response to the snowfall and are treating primary roads and some secondary routes. However, untreated surfaces, particularly in neighborhoods, may be dangerous, the city said in a release. Use caution when driving.
