Online Fundraiser Started for Mother Hit by Car in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- An online fundraiser has been started for the pedestrian hit by a car Thursday at Mt. Vernon Avenue and W. Glebe Road. The driver, a 77-year old woman, remained on the scene and the woman who was struck was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

An online fundraiser has a goal of $100,000 for Rose Cruz:

We are very sad to share the news that Rose Cruz was critically injured in a recent accident. Rose is a very special person who is both family and friend to us, our staff and many of our patrons at Cafe Pizzaiolo, St Elmos and Market to Market. Rose Cruz was struck by a car while crossing Mt Vernon Avenue early evening Thursday and is currently enduring complications from the accident. Its no secret that Rose is an extremely loving, caring and thoughtful person who we have all been blessed to know. Rose is also a loving wife and mother of two young daughters at home, and right now Rose and her family need both our prayers and support. Members of the Alexandria Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the incident. The investigation is ongoing. Alexandria Police ask that witnesses or people with information regarding this incident contact Sergeant Greg Holden at 703.746.6184.
