Severe Weather Expected Wednesday Evening

Rain, thunderstorms, small hail predicted across Northern Virginia and DC.

A line of thunderstorms is expected to move through Northern Virginia and DC during this evening’s commute. Forecasters expect rain and wind to pick up between 4 – 5 p.m. Wednesday.

β€œNumerous showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected into this evening,” according to the National Weather Service. β€œSome storms will produce heavy rainfall…which may lead to flooding problems.”

The Capital Weather Gang, however, predicts β€œas rainfall totals have generally been 1 inch or less from the recent rain, the ground isn’t yet saturated and widespread flooding is not anticipated” in the DC metro area.
