Three Dining Choices Now Closed in Alexandria Area

One eatery closes at Bradlee Shopping Center and two restaurants close at Shirlington Village.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Three dining options have closed in the Alexandria area -- one at Bradlee Shopping Center and two at Shirlington Village in Arlington, possibly due to rising rents in the area.

The three are:

Crave Frozen Yogurt at 3610F King St. at Bradlee Shopping Center closed its doors. The frozen yogurt shop had operated at the shopping center for several years. The self-serve store was well-liked in the neighborhood, with 3.5 stars from Yelp. During warmer months, customers often sat outside. KNLB Retail lists the 1,342-square foot space where the shop was located as available. The company also lists the Wells Fargo Bank space (4,465 square feet) as available in 2017.

The restaurant, founded in 1996, posted this message on its Facebook late last month: "Luna is Excited to have renowned Chef Scott Sunshine on board! Coming Soon, grand reopening with competely new exciting Menu!" The restaurant's Web site notes that the site has been suspended. The phone number is out of service.

Also in Shirlington Village, a fairly new fast-casual restaurant called Medi has closed its doors. Offering up a grilled Mediterranean menu, the eatery posted a message to customers Oct. 26:

"We've loved making family and friends with you all over the past 4 1/2 years, but as of October 30, Medi is closing its doors. Our lease will not be renewed. Thank you so much for all of the support. You have made serving Medi's awesome food so enjoyable. Our team will focus on our full service restaurant Delia's as it expands. As well as regrouping to find our next Medi location. Stay tuned for all good things to come from the guys who brought you Medi! Much love to our AWESOME customers!!"

That leaves four dining spots vacant at Shirlington Village: Luna Grill, Medi, CakeLove and Johnny Rockets diner.

Area residents are still hoping to see some forward movement on the opening of Dudley's Sport & Ale at Shirlington Village.
