Dozens of volunteers spent Saturday morning cleaning up Four Mile Run as part of a project to improve the Potomac River watershed. Alexandria's Department of Transportation and Environmental Services, Office of Environmental Quality and Solid Waste Division teamed with the <a href="http://fergusonfoundation.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Alice Ferguson Foundation</a> to organize the effort. The Alice Ferguson Foundation created the first watershed-wide cleanup in 1989 and has overseen the collection of well over 5 million pounds of trash.
