Volunteers Clean Four Mile Run
Participants in Saturday's cleanup were treated to a cookout at MOM's Organic Market.
Dozens of volunteers spent Saturday morning cleaning up Four Mile Run as part of a project to improve the Potomac River watershed.
Alexandria’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services, Office of Environmental Quality and Solid Waste Division teamed with the Alice Ferguson Foundation to organize the effort.
The Alice Ferguson Foundation created the first watershed-wide cleanup in 1989 and has overseen the collection of well over 5 million pounds of trash.
