FCPS Assistant Principal Failed To Report Multiple Assaults: Police

An assistant principal failed to notify police or Child Protective Services of multiple assaults at a Burke elementary school, reports say.

BURKE, VA — An assistant principal at White Oaks Elementary School in Burke was issued a summons for failing to report a special education teacher’s assault of multiple students, according to Fairfax County Police.

On April 12, detectives from FCPD’s Major Crimes Bureau’s Child Abuse Squad began investigating the report of a teacher seen abusing students at the school.

Investigators determined that 62-year-old Elizabeth Yoshimi Nagagata of Fairfax assaulted three students on separate occasions between September 2023 and April 2024, according to police reports.

On June 21, investigators arrested Nagagata and charged her with seven counts of simple assault. She was then held in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond, according to police.

Detectives learned that Dana Chen, 42, of Fairfax knew of the assaults and failed to report them, according to police. As an assistant principal at White Oaks, Chen was required by law to report the incidents to police or Child Protective Services.

After police issued Chen a summons for failing to report, she was released.
