Woman Fatally Injured In Crash Involving Pedestrian In Merrifield
A woman died from injuries she received when she was struck by a vehicle Monday night on Route 29 in Merrifield, according to authorities.
FAIRFAX, VA — Fairfax County police were on the scene of a fatal crash involving a pedestrian Monday around 7:30 p.m. on Route 29 and Hideaway Road in the Merrifield area, according to authorities.
The pedestrian, an adult female, was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries, according to police. She was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on the scene.
Police closed Route 29 in both directions and diverted traffic onto a service road so that detectives could investigate the scene of the crash, according to FCPD.
