Furloughed Workers Offered Free Turkeys Saturday In Sterling
A nonprofit organization is hooking up with a major grocer to give away free turkeys Saturday to those affected by the federal shutdown.

STERLING, VA—With the federal government having been mired in a shutdown for more than a month and no immediate end in sight, a nonprofit organization and its founder's bakery is hooking up with Costco to help those affected. From 3-5 p.m. Saturday in Chantel's Bakery at 100 Executive Drive, Suite B1, free turkeys will be given to furloughed federal workers or federal contractors out of work because of the furlough.
Owner Dennis Stanley's nonprofit is "Sprinkles of Thanks," an organization designed to "help others who are facing difficult times." Costco donated more than 200 turkeys to be distributed at Chantel's.
