FAIRFAX, VA — Fairfax County police detectives were on the scene of a death investigation on Tuesday morning in the area of Fairfax County Parkway and Old Plains Road near Fair Oaks Hospital, according to a post on the department's X account.
Fairfax County police received a call around 9:45 a.m. from a resident who reported seeing what appeared to be a deceased person in the grassy median area of the parkway about a half-mile north of the Rugby intersection, according to Capt. Jesse Katzman of FCPD's public information office.
Units from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue were first on the scene and confirmed that there was a deceased man in the median, Katzman told reporters during a news conference.
