Grants For Human Services Nonprofits Available In Fairfax City

The City of Fairfax has established a grant program to help support nonprofit human services organizations that serve city residents.

The City of Fairfax has established a grant program to help support nonprofit human services organizations that serve city residents.

Eligible organizations must be located in Fairfax City and/or provide services to city residents. Organizations may choose to apply for either a mini-grant ($5,000-$10,000) or a standard grant ($10,001-$50,000), both distributed through a competitive process.

Applications will be accepted from Sept. 23 through 4 p.m Nov. 4. Recipients will be announced Dec. 10.

The city will hold a virtual information session on Oct. 3 for interested applicants regarding the grant program and the application process. Details for this information session will follow on fairfaxva.gov/nonprofitgrants.

Additionally, the city will collect grant-related questions through Oct. 14, and publish grant FAQs on the website on Oct. 21.

“The city values our nonprofit partners and the critical role they play within our community,” said Lesley Abashian, human services director. “The nonprofit grant program was approved by city council to support and expand the important work of nonprofit organizations.”

Ongoing funding for the nonprofit grant program will be approved as part of the city’s annual budget process. For FY25, the City Council funded the grants program at $300,000.
