Sexual Assault Charge Filed Against Ride-Share Driver: Fairfax Police

Fairfax County Police have arrested a 47-year-old ride-share driver who they say assaulted a passenger in his vehicle.

FAIR LAKES, VA — A ride-share driver was arrested Friday for a sexual assault that occurred in his ride-share vehicle in August, according to Fairfax County Police.

On Aug. 10, around 11:47 p.m., a sexual assault was reported at the intersection of Fair Ridge Drive and Route 50.

The victim told police officers she was assaulted by a driver while she was in his ride-share vehicle. The victim escaped and called police as the driver fled.

Detectives identified 47-year-old Sayed Cheshty of Fairfax as a suspect in the case. Police arrested Cheshty on Friday, charging him with object sexual penetration by force, according to court records.

Cheshty is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 4, 2025, in Fairfax County District Court, according to court records.
