Fire Sunday Displaces Residents in Fairfax Station
Engine of running vehicle in garage catches fire, starts blaze; damage is estimated at more than $100,000, fire department says.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Firefighters responded Sunday afternoon to a house fire in the Fairfax Station area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 9735 South Park Circle (see map below), according to the fire department.
When firefighters arrived at the home, they found smoke and fire coming from the garage area, extending into the living area of the single-family home, the fire department said. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly extinguished the fire, the department noted.
The home had working smoke alarms; the fire was discovered by the occupants before the alarms activated, the fire department said. Two occupants have been displaced and Red Cross is providing support. There were no reported firefighter or civilian injuries.

Damage is estimated at approximately $126,950, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The cause of the fire was determined to be the engine of a running vehicle which had caught fire in the garage area.
