31 VA Companies Named Among America’s Greatest Workplaces
Virginia had 31 companies named great workplaces by Newsweek based on employees surveyed on various workplace factors.
VIRGINIA — Thirty-one companies headquartered in Virginia were recently named to the America’s Greatest Workplaces 2023 rankings released by Newsweek and its data partner, Plant-A Insights Group.
Newsweek used a 5-star rating system to rank companies. The rating is based on a national survey on benefits, workplace environment, career development, empowerment of women, promotion of veterans, development of entry-level employees and support for LGBTQ+ employees.

3Pillar (Technology, Media, Telecom), which employs 1,000 to 4,999 people and has revenues between $100 million and $250 million, received a 4-star ranking. The company was founded in 2006.
Accenture (Technology, Media, Telecom), which employs 500,000 and more people and has revenues between $1 billion and $5 billion, received a 4.5-star ranking. The company was founded in 1989.

Amentum (Energy, Resources and Industrials), which employs 20,000 to 99,999 people and has revenues between $1 billion and $5 billion, received a 5-star ranking. The company was founded in 1898.
Bechtel (Energy, Resources and Industrials), which employs 20,000 to 99,999 people and has revenues of $10 billion or more, received a 5-star ranking. The company was founded in 1955.
Boeing (Energy, Resources and Industrials), which employs 100,000 to 499,999 people and has revenues of $10 billion or more, received a 4.5-star ranking. The company was founded in 1916.

Mars (Consumer), which employs 100,000 to 499,999 people and has revenues of $10 billion or more, received a 4.5-star ranking. The company was founded in 1911.
Maximus (Financial Services and Business Services), which employs 20,000 to 99,999 people and has revenues between $1 billion and $5 billion, received a 4.5-star ranking. The company was founded in 1975.
Michael & Son (Energy, Resources and Industrials), which employs 1,000 to 4,999 people and has revenues between $100 million and $250 million, received a 5-star ranking.
MicroStrategy (Technology, Media, Telecom), which employs 1,000 to 4,999 people and has revenues between $500 million and $1 billion, received a 4.5-star ranking.
Nestle (Consumer), which employs 20,000 to 99,999 people and has revenues of $10 billion or more, received a 5-star ranking. The company was founded in 1920.
Northrop Grumman (Energy, Resources and Industrials), which employs 20,000 to 99,999 people and has revenues of $10 billion or more, received a 4-star ranking. The company was founded in 1939.
P&R Enterprises (Energy, Resources and Industrials), which employs 1,000 to 4,999 people and has revenues between $20 million and $100 million, received a 4-star ranking. The company was founded in 1969.
Raytheon Intelligence & Space (Energy, Resources and Industrials), which employs 20,000 to 99,999, received a 5-star ranking. The company was founded in 2020.
Raytheon Technologies (Energy, Resources and Industrials), which employs 100,000 to 499,999 people and has revenues of $10 billion or more, received a 4.5-star ranking. The company was founded in 1922.
UIC Government Services (Financial Services and Business Services), which employs 1,000 to 4,9999 people and has revenues between $250 million and $500 million, received a 4.5-star ranking. The company was founded in 1999.
VOANS (Financial Services and Business Services), which employs 1,000 to 4,999 people and has revenues between $100 million and $250 million, received a 4.5-star ranking.
To develop the ranking, Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group surveyed companies employing at least 1,000 people about their employment experience and also consulted more than 389,000 company reviews.
The companies that made the final ranking share common values such as competitive salaries and benefits, equity and diversity, and a workplace culture that is open to new ideas, Newsweek said. Additionally, the companies provide comfortable working environments while encouraging career development and work-life balance.
Companies that create “great workplaces” benefit from increased productivity and lower turnover rates that contribute to stability while employees benefit from better physical and mental health, the magazine said. Those employees tend to take fewer sick days, are less likely to experience burnout, and provide excellent service to their customers and colleagues.
