Cat Killed During Man's 21-Hour Barricade In Bailey's Crossroads
A 21-hour standoff involved a man setting a fire inside an apartment and killing his cat, according to police.

BAILEY'S CROSSROADS, VA — A 21-hour standoff at an apartment in Bailey's Crossroads ended after the suspect killed his cat and set a fire.
Police had responded to the apartment in the 6000 block of Bellview Drive around 3:52 p.m. Sunday. According to police, a roommate abducted two victims and assaulted one with a baseball bat. The victims were able to escape and call police.
The suspect, Brian Ramos, 21, of Falls Church, barricaded himself in his apartment with a knife and his cat. Police say Ramos refused to leave his apartment and made threats with a knife. The police department's Crisis Negotiation Team, Unmanned Aircraft System Program, Special Operations Division officers responded to assist with the barricade.

Several attempts to contact Ramos over several hours failed. Around 12:20 a.m. Monday, police saw Ramos start a fire within the apartment and kill his cat. He then exited the apartment onto the roof.
The barricade ultimately ended when Ramos climbed down a Fairfax County Fire and Rescue ladder and was taken into custody. He was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and then to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Ramos is charged with two counts of abduction and two counts of assault. Charges are possible in relation to the cat's death and arson. He is being held without bond.
