Dog Bite Case Investigated In Falls Church Park

Police are attempting to locate a dog owner about a dog bite case, as rabies treatment may be required for the victim without information.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — City of Falls Church Police are seeking information in a dog bite case Wednesday.

The dog bite incident happened around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on the pedestrian bridge adjacent to the Oak Street Elementary School in Howard E. Herman Stream Valley Park, 601 W. Broad St. The dog bit the victim in the upper left thigh. According to police, the dog owner stopped to apologize for the dog bite but did not provide any information.

Without information from the dog owner, the dog bite victim may have to get rabies vaccinations. People bitten by animals showing signs of rabies typically need to begin vaccination to treat rabies. Rabies can be fatal without treatment, but prompt action can completely prevent it.

The dog owner in the dog bite case as described as a white man around 40 to 50 years old wearing a dark jacket. The dog was described as a medium to large dog with black fur and a longer snout.
