
Tuesday’s earthquake left a lot of people shaken and the pipes Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church busted.
Mary Shaw, spokeswoman for Fairfax County Public Schools, said 74 schools in the district reported some damage. She said FCPS will continue inspecting buildings Wednesday.
“All I know is that a pipe broke and there was some flooding in the building,” Shaw said.

The quake registered a 5.8 magnitude at 1:51 p.m. by the U.S. Geological Survey with an epicenter in Mineral, Va., a hamlet with a population of 424 about 85 miles southwest of Washington. Hours after the initial earthquake shook Northern Virginia, an aftershock measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck the area again, according to the United States Geological Survey.
This aftershock, which occurred around 8:04 p.m. according to USGS, was the third recorded Tuesday. The first measured 2.8 at 2:46 p.m., followed by another measuring 2.2 at 3:20 p.m.
