Falls Church Bank Robbery Wednesday: Police Nab Suspect

Police caught the bank robbery suspect as he was leaving the bank, according to a City spokeswoman.

FALLS CHURCH, VA -- Falls Church Police have a suspect in custody Wednesday afternoon who they say robbed or attempted to rob a local bank, City authorities said.

The SunTrust Bank, located at 603 W. Broad St., was robbed sometime between 2-2:30 p.m. Wednesday and the suspect was caught on or near the premises, according to City spokewoman Susan Finarelli.

City officials have provided new details about the bank robbery: The suspect is a man who implied he had a weapon but did not. After slipping a note to a teller, the suspect left through a back door, with no cash. A bank employee notified police, who caught the suspect about 30 feet outside the back door. No one was hurt.
