Falls Church Native Performing at Wolf Trap Thursday

Tom Principato off a European tour ready to hit the local stage.

Falls Church native and Grammy nominated musician Tom Principato will hit the stage May 3 at .

The Washington Post reported Principato will kick off the Jazz in the Garden series May 25 at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.

Principato has racked up 22 Wammie Awards throughout his career, according to Wolf Trap. He said music is something he stumbled upon in the late 1960s.

“When I was in high school, I was already been performing semi professionally around the D.C. area,” Principato told Wolf Trap.

In the interview with Wolf Trap, Principato discussed his music and his European tour. Principato said he has experienced much success overseas with his music.

“I’ve been going to Europe now for the last 23-years and it’s really been a Godsend for me,” Principato told Wolf Trap. “Europeans just so much more appreciate music and the arts.”

Over the last 40 years, Principato has recorded 21 CDs, according to his website.
