Falls Church Residents Raise More Than $30,000 for Bible Book for Kids
Bible Basics is a counting board book designed to introduce babies and toddlers to the basics of the Christian faith.
FALLS CHURCH, VA -- Two Falls Church area residents have raised more than $30,000 for their children's book, "Bible Basics: A Baby Believer Counting Primer." The two entrepreneurs raised $32,600, far surpassing their goal of $14,000, from 626 backers on Kickstarter, a crowdfunding Web site.
"I was primarily motivated to write Bible Basics and the Baby Believer Primers because of the scarcity of biblical and, especially, theological resources for very young children," says writer Danielle Hitchen. She worked on the book with illustrator Jessica Blanchard. "As parents, we understand how hard babies and toddlers are on their books," Hitchen said.
They describe their project as a children's one-of-a-kind counting book. "Bible Basics is designed for children from infancy through preschool. It’s a fun and easy way to introduce your child to foundational Biblical and theological content in a format which helps them grasp and retain the information. For older children, Bible Basics includes quotations from the Bible, hymns, and early church writings to help reinforce the content," the two say on their Kickstarter campaign page.

The two say they'll use the money they've raised for two things:
- Production, printing and shipping of the book, as well as business start-up costs (website, accounting software, taxes, etc.).
- They said they'll use excess funds to develop and publish the next Baby Believer Primer, as well as marketing and helping grow Catechesis Books.
