FIVE THINGS: End of Street Sweeping, Football and More

Don't forget the Public Works open house on Saturday.

1-    Street sweeping ends in the City of Falls Church through today. It is important that residents move vehicles off of residential streets between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. when street sweeping is scheduled for their area. Parked vehicles impede the street sweeping equipment, resulting in less efficient and effective service. See the schedule and locations of street sweeping here.

2-    On Saturday the City of Falls Church will host Public Utilities Open House at the Property Yard (7100 Gordon Rd.) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free event includes activities for the entire family, including taking pictures on heavy-duty equipment. Visitors are invited to watch utility employees demonstrate equipment use, make water connections, and more.

3-    If you’re interested in learning how to make your own rain barrel, there’s a workshop in Reston on Sept. 23. You can sign up here.
