Four Falls Church Teens Charged in Explosive Device Case

Sixteen-year-old minor one of five charged in incident on Gallows Road

Fairfax County Police charged four Falls Church men and a minor with creating and/or using explosives after an explosive device went off inside a mailbox along Gallows Road.

The 16-year-old boy, of Vienna, was the only minor in the group, according to information released by county police. Police responded at 12:15 a.m. on May 12 to the intersection of Gallows Road and Railroad Street, near the Dunn Loring Post Office, after a citizen reported a suspicious event.  

An investigation led to the discovery of the explosive device and Michael Bauer, 19; John Hook, 19; David Yeaney, 19; and Brian Phan, 18, being charged, police said.

It's not clear exactly what role the Vienna boy played in the incident.
