  1. The budget for Fall Church City Schools has been approved to increase with an emphasis on taking care of the staff both in pay and in paid time off while staying competitive with other school districts. The budget has been increased by over five percent. Over $60 million total was granted, with a large portion from the city government as well as the anticipated additional state and federal revenue. Along with an increase in pay for teachers and paid time off, the budget increase also allows for a full-time position at Oak Street Elementary and an increase in student enrollment that can be handled. A city budget is now expected to be proposed at the end of the month and the final approval of the school budget will be verified once settled. (Falls Church Patch)
  2. Arlington County Police and medical staff arrived just on time at the Ballston mall parking garage to administer Narcan to two juveniles for a nearly fatal opioid overdose situation. Early Wednesday afternoon, police were dispatched to the scene of a possible cardiac arrest with CPR already in progress, the two who were administered Narcan and one other were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The investigation is still ongoing as this is another case in the ongoing opioid epidemic that started over the winter break in Arlington Public Schools. Several calls have been made to Arlington schools for changes to be made by school staff, school board members, and parents. (ARLnow)
  3. A candy wonderland is coming to Tysons Corner Center as a new "Candytopia" exhibit is set to fill in the space across from H&M from mid-March to the end of May. The traveling exhibit has touched on many major markets such as New York City, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, and is currently open in Atlanta and Houston. The exhibit is made either completely of candy or resembles candy for that fun feeling for all guests to enjoy. Tickets are now available $23 for kids aged 4-12, $30 for all adults, and children 3 and under get in for free. (Tysons Reporter)
