FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- More than 80 cats have been seized from a West Falls Church area home, Fairfax County Police announced Monday afternoon.
Animal Protection Police removed approximately 80 cats Saturday from a 52-year-old man’s home in the 7200 block of Westmoreland Road, in the Falls Church area (see map below). An investigation began after Animal Protection received a tip from an investigator with the Department of Code Compliance.
Officers discovered dozens of cats inside the home, ranging from newborns to about seven years old, exhibiting varying signs and symptoms of illness, according to police. Eighty-two cats were removed from the home, transported to the animal shelter and treated by a local veterinarian, police said. Officers also located five deceased cats inside and collected their remains.
