Murphy, Taylor Resign From BZA

No word why the two resigned.

Board of Zoning Appeals Chair John Murphy and fellow board member Kent Taylor resigned from their positions, according to City of Falls Church Spokeswoman Susan Finarelli.

A message for Murphy was not immediately returned Thursday morning. Taylor could not be contacted. Phone messages for other BZA members and city Zoning Administrator John C. Boyle were not immediately returned.

Board Vice Chair Howard Stoodley said the two have the right to resign. Stoodley, who has served on the board for at least 18-years, said he will continue serving the citizens of the city in his current role.

“I think the resignations were unwarranted,” Stoodley said.

According to the city’s website, the BZA hears and decides appeals with alleged errors in order, requirement, decision, or determination in the administration of the zoning ordinance and grants zoning variances and has the power to grant special use permits for the use of land or construction of buildings in districts where they are prohibited.
