New, Outgoing Falls Church City Council Members To Be Honored

FALLS CHURCH, VA — The City of Falls Church will say farewell to retiring City Council members and welcome new members in a reception Monday.

Three seats were up for election in November. Incumbent Vice Mayor Letty Hardi was re-elected, and two new City Council members were chosen — Erin Flynn and Justine Underhill. Mayor David Tarter and Councilmember Phil Duncan did not seek re-election. City Council members not up for re-election this year were Marybeth Connelly, Debbie Hiscott, Caroline Lian and David Snyder.

A reception honoring incoming and outgoing City Council members will be held Monday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. City Council will gather in the lobby to chat and celebrate with the community before their regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Incoming members honored will be Hardi, Underhill and Flynn. Ongoing members being honored will be Tarter and Duncan.

Monday's City Council meeting will be the last of the year. City Council's agenda includes approving a contract for school zone speed cameras, setting budget guidance for the next city budget, and considering whether to affirm or reverse the Historic Architectural Review Board's denial of a request to demolish a barn with a historic designation at 1011 Fowler Street.

New City Council members will be sworn in to serve in 2024. City Council members typically chose a mayor and vice mayor.
