Shooting Friday Night in Falls Church Area: Victim Injured, Suspect Flees, Police Say

Fairfax County Police say someone was shot Friday night in the 7500 block of Marc Drive in the Falls Church area.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A person was shot Friday night in the Falls Church area and is expected to survive, according to Fairfax County Police. Police say the shooting took place in the 7500 block of Marc Drive (see map below).

The victim, shot in the upper body, was first thought to be in life-threatening condition, but police later said the person is expected to survive. Police first notified the public of the shooting at about 8 p.m. Friday.

The suspect is a white man, police said; he was wearing all black at the time of the shooting, police said. He was last seen Friday night running toward Falls Church High School.

Police said they do not believe the shooting is related to two homicides in the Burke/Springfield area.
