Shots Fired Sunday Night in Falls Church: Police Seek Information

Falls Church resident called police after hearing gunshots; five shell casings were found in the street, police said.

FALLS CHURCH, VA -- City of Falls Church Police say someone shot several rounds from a gun early Monday morning on Jackson Street. No injuries or damage was reported.

At about 12:30 a.m. Monday, City of Falls Church Police responded to a call about a suspicious sound on Jackson Street (see map below), the City reported Monday afternoon. The caller reported hearing what sounded like gunshots. Police surveyed the area and found no injuries or damage to buildings.

In the daylight, a resident found five shell casings on the street, police said. The police investigated once again and no injuries or damages were found.

The report of gunshots in Falls Church comes at the same time that a driver took several shots and hit a Fairfax County Police cruiser in the Great Falls area Sunday night. In that case, the officer had attempted to pull the driver over; when the driver pulled over, a passenger exited and ran away on foot and the driver shot at the cruiser as he fled the scene. The police officer was not injured but the cruiser has at least two bullet holes in it.
