Snow Postpones Meridian High's Girls, Boys Basketball Games

Meridian High School's girls and boys basketball games against William Monroe High School Friday night have been postponed due to snow.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Meridian High School’s girls and boys basketball games against William Monroe High School Friday night have been postponed due to the forecast for snow, Falls Church City Public Schools announced Friday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Northern Virginia starting at 4 p.m. Friday. Snow accumulations are expected to total 1 to 3 inches in Northern Virginia. The winter weather advisory is in effect through 4 a.m. on Saturday.

William Monroe High is located in Greene County, north of Charlottesville.

Heading into Friday night’s postponed game, Meridian’s varsity girls' basketball team had an 8-1 record overall and an unbeaten 5-0 record in the Northwestern region. Meridian’s varsity boys' basketball team had a 4-11 overall record and a 2-2 record in the Northwestern region.
