Metro Station Stabbing: Suspect Identified, Victim Expected to Recover

After stabbing at Dunn Loring station, suspect took Metro train to D.C., where he was taken into custody.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Investigators have yet to determine the motive behind a stabbing Monday morning at the Dunn Loring Metro Station in Fairfax County, according to Metro Transit Police.

Ali Ahmed Mohamound, 46, of Washington, D.C., is charged with malicious wounding.

The victim, an adult male, is being treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening.

Law enforcement responded at 7:30 a.m. to reports of a fight in progress, according to a Metro Transit Police release. The suspect fled the scene, taking a Metro train toward D.C.

"However, technicians in Metro's Security Operations Control Center were able to broadcast a photo of the suspect to officers in the field, and also determine that the suspect had boarded a specific car of an Orange Line train headed in the direction of New Carrollton," according to the Transit Police statement. "The train was intercepted by Transit Police at Rosslyn and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. A knife was recovered on the suspect."

The suspect had multiple fake IDs in his possession, according to police, delaying efforts to identify him, according to police.
