2 Injured As Small Airplane Crashes In Spotsylvania County

Two people were injured when the single-prop airplane they were in crashed in a Spotsylvania County field on Friday, police say.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Two people onboard a small airplane that crashed in a field in Spotslyvania County on Friday afternoon suffered minor injuries, according to the Virginia State Police.

Around 2:34 p.m., a single-prop aircraft that had taken off from Shannon Airport in Spotsylvania County experienced engine trouble and was forced to land in a field along Spotswood Furnace Road, according to authorities.

The Federal Aviation Administration was contacted and the cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to authorities.
