FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Fredericksburg police seized thousands of dollars worth of narcotics as part of a months-long investigation into a drug distribution ring, according to reports.

Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant last Wednesday at a residence in Spotsylvania County, according to FPD. Police recovered about $18,000 worth of methamphetamine, $8,000 worth of crack cocaine, $1,800 worth of fentanyl, and a loaded firearm.

Police arrested George W. Liggins, charging him with three counts of possession of a Schedule I/II narcotic with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm while in possession of a Schedule I/II narcotic, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the incident report.

Liggins had recently been convicted in New York City on gun-related charges and was out on bond awaiting sentencing, police say. He was staying in Spotsylvania at the time of his arrest.

On Thursday morning, Liggins was arranged in Spotsylvania General District Court and a preliminary hearing was set for 10 a.m. on Jan. 28, 2026, according to court records. All five charges are unclassified felonies.

The Virginia State Police, the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office, and the FBI Fredericksburg Regional Task Force assisted FPD in its investigation.
