
The City of Fredericksburg has redesigned its website.
"The new website represents an updated graphic design and incorporates features which improve the ability of citizens to interact with the city,” Beverly Cameron, city manager, said.
The city contracted with CivicPlus for assistance with the redesign and spent $43,264 on the project, according to Assistant City Manager Mark Whitley.

Many of the new website’s added features will help citizens personalize the information they receive from the city and provide easier, faster access to information, Whitley said.
According to the city, new interactive features include:· “Notify Me” – Visitors will be able to sign up to be notified via email and/or SMS text message about items of interest, including community activities, job openings, bid postings, current news items, calendar events, and meetings.

· “RSS Feeds” – Real Simple Syndication will be available as a way to receive recently posted information.
· “Social Networking” – Visitors will be able to link to select social networking applications from the City website.
· “Community Voice” – This new feature offers an opportunity for citizens and others to post comments and ideas on important issues in the City.
· “My Dashboard” – Coming in August! Visitors will now be able to setup a profile that allows customization of the City’s website to select and organize information important to them on one screen.
· “Agenda Center” – This module provides a central location for City Council and other commission agendas and minutes, and it is conveniently linked to the “Notify Me” feature which provides instant notice of new postings.
· “Document Center” – This module provides one easy access point to locate documents stored on the site.
