Community Food Drive Saturday In Fredericksburg Area

In part because of the federal furlough, the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is having a food drive Saturday at area grocery stores.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—In part because of the federal furlough and also simply to help restock its shelves, the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is having a food drive Saturday, Jan. 19, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Participating stores include Giant Town and Country (White Oak Road), Giant (Eagle Village), Walmart (Central Park, noon-4 p.m.), Food Lion (Thornburg), Food Lion (Ladysmith), Lidl (Route 17), Lidl (Route 3) and Shoppers (Route 610).

Most-needed food products for the FRFB are canned meat (tuna, salmon and chicken), peanut butter, dry or canned beans, canned fruit in natural juice, pasta and sauce, mac and cheese, canned vegetables, instant potatoes, shelf-stable milk and rice.
