Fredericksburg Election 2025 Voter Guide: Candidates For City, Statewide Races

FEREDERICKSBURG, VA — Voters in Fredericksburg will head to the polls Tuesday to choose who will serve on the Fredericksburg City Council and School Board, and who will be the city's next commonwealth's attorney, sheriff, commissioner of revenue and treasurer.

The election will also decide who will be the next governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general, as well as who will be their representative in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Polls will be open Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.

As of Sunday, 3,266 voters cast ballots in-person during the early voting period, which started on Sept. 19 and ended on Saturday, according to the Electoral Process Education Corporation. In addition, 1,081 mail-in votes have been tallied, which means a total of 4,360, or 21.2 percent of all eligible voters, have already cast ballots.

To vote on Election Day, visit your assigned polling place between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.

Visit the Citizen Portal on the Virginia Department of Elections website to check your registration status. The deadline for registering or updating your registration to vote in person or by mail was Oct. 24. However, voters may register and vote using a provisional ballot in-person on Election Day.

Completed mail-in ballots can be turned in on Election Day at your polling place or at the 24-hour drop box located behind Fredericksburg City Center at 601 Caroline St.

The deadline for returning a ballot by drop box is 7 p.m. on Nov. 4. Completed ballots returned by mail must be received by noon on Nov. 7.
