Man Stabbed Woman In Bathroom Stall At Fredericksburg Store: Sheriff

A man who climbed over a bathroom stall at an area convenience store and attacked a woman with a knife is in custody, authorities say.

The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office arrested Austin Wayne Wilson on stabbing and abduction charges after an attack inside a bathroom at a Fredericksburg convenience store on Saturday, according to authorities.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A man armed with a knife who attacked a woman in a bathroom stall at a Fredericksburg convenience store is facing multiple charges, including abduction and malicious wounding, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday for the report of a stabbing at the Wawa store at 4527 Plank Road. Investigators said Austin Wayne Wilson had fled the store before deputies arrived. The deputies determined that Wilson had arrived at the Wawa as the passenger in a vehicle.

Emergency medical personnel treated the victim, who had a cut on her hand consistent with a knife wound, according to the incident report. She was then taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

"The investigation revealed that Wilson entered the women’s restroom, concealed himself in a stall, and then climbed over into the victim’s stall," according to the sheriff's office report. "Wilson displayed a knife, threatened the victim, and attempted to restrain her. The victim’s persistent screams forced Wilson to flee the scene."

With the help of surveillance video, which the deputies released to the public, Wilson was quickly identified as the suspect in the case and was later arrested, according to the sheriff's office.

Wilson has been charged with abduction (by force, intimidation, or deception), malicious wounding, obstruction of justice, assault and battery, and obscene sexual display, according to the sheriff's office.

He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
