No Front License Plate Results In Drug Charges For VA Couple: Police
A couple whose vehicle didn't have a front license plate were cited on multiple drug-related charges, according to police.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — After being stopped by a Fredericksburg police officer for not displaying a front license plate on the vehicle they were driving, a man and a woman ended up being charged on multiple drug-related charges, according to the police report.
On Monday, July 28, an FPD officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of Race Street near Emancipation Highway on a vehicle that did not have a front license plate, according to the incident report. The vehicle also reportedly had improperly displayed registration decals.
Both the driver and front passenger, identified as Ashlee Brown-Stone of Fredericksburg and Robert Robinson Jr. of King George, respectively, avoided making eye contact with the officer, according to the report.

The officer who made the stop and a second officer who also responded to the location were able to see suspected narcotics in plain view inside the vehicle, police say.

After detaining Brown-Stone and Robinson, the officers searched the vehicle and recovere several bags of suspected cocaine, a black digital scale with white powdery residue, one 9mm round, and a firearm, as well as additional suspected narcotics within the vehicle, according to FPD.
Robinson was arrested and charged with:
- One class 6 felony warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (VA code 18.2-308.2)
- One class 6 felony warrant for possession of ammunition for a firearm by a convicted felon (VA code 18.2-308.2)
- One class 5 felony warrant for possession with intent to distribute marijuana greater than 1 ounce (VA code 18.2-248.1)
- One class 6 felony warrant for possession of a firearm while PWID schedule I/II (VA code 18.2-308.4)
- One unclassified felony warrant for PWID Schedule I/II (VA code 18.2-248)
Brown-Stone was arrested and charged with:
- One class 5 felony warrant for possession of a schedule I/II controlled substance (VA code 18.2-250)
- One class 5 felony warrant for PWID Marijuana > 1 oz (VA code 18.2-248.1)
- One unclassified felony warrant for PWID Schedule I/II (VA code 18.2-248)
- One class 6 felony warrant for PWID Schedule I/II with a firearm (VA code 18.2-308.4)
While Brown-Stone was issued a $10,000 secure bond, Robinson was held without bond, according to police.
Robinson was arraigned in Fredericksburg General District Court on Tuesday, July 28 and has a bond hearing set for 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to court records. Brown-Stone is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
