Get ready for a mid-week temperature plunge in the Northern Virginia area, and also looming is the specter of snow—possibly measurable.

STERLING, VA—With the relatively pleasant weekend complete, folks in the Northern Virginia area now face a work week that gets colder as it goes along—the worst of it (lows flirting with single digits) expected by midweek. So says the National Weather Service and other area forecasting outlets.
As the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang points out: "Colder air is most certainly coming by late Tuesday, and the change in air mass may bring some snow along with it." That would be a possible quick-and-dirty snow blast Tuesday night before Wednesday offers sunshine with highs slightly below freezing.
