SPOTSYLVANIA, VA—An Occoquan man was killed Friday morning when the small plane he was piloting crashed after takeoff from Shannon Airport, according to Virginia State Police. Leonardo Ospina Villada was taken to a nearby hospital but died shortly thereafter.
Around 7:45 a.m., police went to the scene for a reported plane crash and found the aircraft. Investigators found that almost immediately after the fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft took off, it banked to the left and was caught by the wind, prompting the crash.
