Red Cross Offers Celebrity Chef Recipe Book for Fredericksburg Donations

Blood donors are needed to pre-empt the busy holiday season, as donations to the American Red Cross typically wane during November, December, and January.

This is why the Red Cross will give those who donate blood between Nov. 26 and Nov. 30 a pot holder filled with Thanksgiving recipes from celebrity chefs.

Contributors to this complimentary recipe book include culinary professionals Mario Batali of Food Network fame; Rocco DiSpirito, who has appeared on Top Chef and The Biggest Loser; Iron Chef winner and executive chef at New York City’s Butter Alex Guarnaschelli; and D.C. restaurant-owner and Top Chef All-Stars runner-up Mike Isabella.

While all blood types are welcome to donate, the Red Cross especially needs donations of O negative, A negative and B negative blood to supply transfusions in emergency situations.

• Nov. 23: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., at the Spotsylvania Towne Center, 137 Spotsylvania Towne Centre in Fredericksburg

• Nov. 24: 1:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m., at the Sweet Frog at Eagle Village, located at 1211 Jefferson Davis Highway in Fredericksburg

• Nov. 26: 1 p.m. - 7 p.m., at the Fredericksburg Blood Donation Center, located at 4836 Southpoint Parkway in Fredericksburg

• Nov. 28: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the Fredericksburg Blood Donation Center, located at 4836 Southpoint Parkway in Fredericksburg

• Nov. 28: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., at Lowes-Stafford, located at 299 Banks Ford Parkway in Fredericksburg

• Nov. 30: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m., at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, located at 9151 Eleys Ford Road in Fredericksburg
