Roadwork Closing I-95N Lanes Overnight Sunday and Monday

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Roadwork on the new Fall Hill Avenue overpass will mean lane closures and significant delays and detours on Interstate 95 Sunday and Monday nights, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Interstate 95 travelers are being advised to use Route 1 northbound to avoid delays both nights. Of course, more vehicles on Route 1 puts a significant amount of extra traffic near downtown Fredericksburg. Traffic will return to the interstate on Route 17 in Stafford.

Lanes will be closed on the following schedule:

Sunday, Aug. 28, I-95 northbound:

• Single lane closure at 10 p.m.
• Double lane closure at 10:30 p.m.
• All lanes re-open to traffic by 4:30 a.m.

Monday, Aug. 29, I-95 northbound:

• Single lane closure at 9 p.m.
• Double lane closure at 9:30 p.m.
• All lanes re-open to traffic by 4:30 a.m.
