Fredericksburg Economic Development and Tourism Second Quarter News

The City of Fredericksburg Department of Economic Development and Tourism released their second quarter newsletter.  Following are some highlights.

1 - Quick Takes

  • The next deadline for businesses to apply for Fredericksburg Business Incentive Grants is October 1.
  • New store and business openings almost doubled in the 2nd Quarter, 2013.
  • If UMW students are your customers, sign up now to participate in the Community Welcome Fair for incoming freshmen on Saturday, Aug. 24. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Aug. 21.
  • Over 100 local artists will showcase their talent in street art at the 4th Annual Via Colori Fredericksburg, September 20 - 22.

3 - D. D. and Kenneth Lecky have purchased LibertyTown Arts Workshop from retiring founder Dan Finnegan.  LibertyTown provides a professional environment where artists can collaborate.  LibertyTown has hosted over 100 art exhibitions shown almost exclusively by local artists.  Visit the studio gallery at 916 Liberty St. in Fredericksburg.  Read more: LibertyTown Arts Workshop sale stimulates program expansion

4 - The Department of Economic Development and Tourism has
created a Facebook Fan Page to promote the City of Fredericksburg.

6 - The Fredericksburg Regional Alliance (FRA), in conjunction with the University of Mary Washington (UMW), is currently analyzing clusters of interrelated industries in the region.
