STAFFORD, VA — Monteiz Dash, a Virginia-based Special Ops veteran, was looking for a way to continue serving others after ending his 22-year career in the military.

“As I was embarking on retiring after service, a life-changing event happened to us as well,” Dash said. “My father-in-law had a very bad car accident, and we saw firsthand the toll that it took on, not only on my mother-in-law, but the family itself, where we couldn't be there as much as we needed to.”

The family hired an assisted care provider to help out and give Dash’s mother-in-law a break when needed.

“We saw much that takes it,” Dash said. “How much care that it takes to put into it, because we've been part of it as well.”

It was that first-hand experience that led Dash and his wife Alicia to Seniors Helping Seniors, an in-home care service company that enables seniors to maintain their independent lifestyle.

The company proved to be an easy transition for Monteiz Dash. Not only did his mother work as a nurse in an assisted living facility for more than 25 years, he worked as a certified nursing assistant before joining the military.

“Growing up with a passion as a CNA and in nursing already and going back into it, I feel, in a sense, like I’m coming home. Hey, you're coming back,” he said. “You learned a lot of these skills in the military. Now you get to use those skills to help your community.”

The next step for Monteiz and Alicia Dash was to expand the reach of Seniors Helping Seniors' location in Stafford.

“We’re hiring caregivers and nurses and companion care,” Monteiz Dash said. “We’ll be sending them to clients’ homes to help them with daily activities, medical activities, taking them to appointments, things of that nature.”

Seniors Helping Seniors’ offices are located in the Quantico Corporate Center, 1010 Corporate Drive, #210 in Stafford. The company serves customers from Manassas to Fredericksburg. More information about career opportunities can be found online.
