Stafford Man Cited For Breaking Into Ex-Girlfriend's Home: Sheriff

A man the Stafford County Sheriff's Office says broke into his ex-girlfriends home Friday night is facing multiple criminal charges.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 32-year-old Stafford man is facing multiple charges, including vandalism, for causing a disturbance at his former girlfriend’s home on Friday night, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 6:49 p.m. to Randolph Road for a breaking and entering report. The victim told the deputies that her ex-boyfriend had arrived at her home intoxicated and broke off an exterior security camera, according to the incident report.

When the suspect found the side door locked, he broke a window and climbed through it to gain entry. The victim also told the deputies that when they arrived, the suspect got into a gold SUV and drove off, authorities say.

After searching the area, deputies located the suspect, whom they identified as William Taylor of Stafford, and detained him. When asked if he had been drinking, Taylor told the deputies that he had “like two beers,” according to the incident report. Deputies found three alcoholic beverages in the SUV.

Taylor was arrested and charged with unlawful entry, vandalism, and driving under the influence, according to the sheriff’s office. He was then held on a $2,500 secured bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

On Monday, Taylor was released to his parent, according to court records. He has an arraignment scheduled for July 27 in Stafford County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

The entering property to cause damage and destruction of property charges are listed as Class 1 and criminal misdemeanors, respectively, according to court records. They each carry potential penalties of up to 12 months in jail and/or fines of up to $2,500, under the Code of Virginia
