Structure Fire at 2501 Charles Street

Update:  The power line was quickly secured and there was no damage to the home, Deputy Fire Chief Mike Jones said.  Progress Street remained temporarily closed between Charles and Princess Anne Streets, while Dominion Power repaired the downed lines.

The Fredericksburg Fire Department is on the scene of a structure fire at 2501 Charles St. "A car took down a power pole, and there is a live wire on the roof of a residence," Deputy Fire Chief Mike Jones said. "The roof is starting to smoke," he said.

The 2500 block of Charles Street and the 300 of Progress Street are closed.

Power is out in the area. The transformer is on the ground near a business in the 2500 block of Charles Street..

There are no injuries at this time, Jones said.
