Team Red, White & Blue Forming in Fredericksburg

Saturday morning a group of nine adults and two children met at Fredericksburg Battlefield Park for a run.  They are the first members of Fredericksburg's newly forming Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB).

"We are a community of veterans, civilians, active duty military and supporters coming together for camaraderie and physical fitness activities," Fred Wellman said.  The three-tour Iraq veteran is helping start the Fredericksburg chapter of the national nonprofit whose stated mission "is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity."  It's a way for communities to support veterans as they transition from service member to civilian, Wellman said.

The Team Red, White & Blue Fredericksburg community currently has two weekly and one monthly scheduled activity.  Everyone is welcome.  Simply meet at the designated time and place, Wellman said.

Saturday Morning Weekly Run/Walk/Bike
Meet at 8 a.m. at the Hixson Hill parking lot on Lee Drive in Fredericksburg National Battlefield Park.

Tuesday Evening Weekly Run/Walk/Bike
Meet at 6 p.m. at the flag pole in Old Mill Park for a run/walk/bike on the Canal Path.

First Friday Happy Hour
Meet at 6 p.m. the first Friday of every month at Capital Ale House, 917 Caroline St.

Join the group online.  Go the DC Chapter on the Team RWB website and type 'Fredericksburg' in the comments section.  Once the Fredericksburg Community is large enough, it will be designated its own chapter, Wellman said.
