Vandals Trash Cars, Fences in Lower College Heights Area

Fredericksburg Police alerting residents to car damage, broken fences and more damage over the weekend.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Officers are warning residents in the Lower College Heights area after vandals left a stretch of damaged vehicles, broken fences and more damage over the weekend.

The first report of damage — a stolen fence gate — was made at 11 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Sunken Road, but several more reports were filed after sunrise Saturday morning along Franklin Street and Sunken Road.

In each incident, there are no known witnesses or suspects. A reward is being offered for tips that lead to an arrest, according to Fredericksburg Police. You can contact the Fredericksburg Police Department at 540-373-3122.

The incidents, as reported by Fredericksburg Police:

1100 block Sunken Road, 8/26, 11:00 p.m. A City resident reported that an unknown person took the gate to his fence. The fence is described to be 3 foot by 3 foot, white in color and wooden.

1400 block Franklin Street, 8/27, 7:00 a.m. A City resident reported that someone lifted and bent her driver’s side windshield wiper.

1400 block Franklin Street, 8/27, 7:00 a.m. An officer patrolling the area observed two broken white wooden slates belonging to a fence that ran along the 1400 block of Franklin Street. The officer made contact with the owner who stated that the damage was new.

1300 block Franklin Street, 8/27, 7:00 a.m. A City resident reported that someone lifted and bent her passenger side windshield wiper and removed her side view mirror.

1300 block Franklin Street, 8/27, 7:00 a.m. An officer patrolling the area observed two vehicles with vandalism to the passenger side, side view mirrors. The mirrors were hanging off of the vehicles.

1300 block Franklin Street, 8/27, 7:00 a.m. A City resident reported that someone took his wooden door wreath which was later located in a neighbors yard broken into several pieces.

1200 block Sunken Road, 8/27, 7:00 a.m. An officer patrolling the area was flagged down by several bystanders about four vehicles that were vandalized with damage sustained to the passenger side, side view mirrors which were all in a hanging position.
