Virginia Plane Crash: 6 Victims Identified, Including 3 Teens
Plane attempted to abort landing at Shannon Airport on Friday afternoon, according to Virginia State Police. Crashed in nearby woods.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Six victims have been identified in a fatal plane crash Friday afternoon at Shannon Airport, just outside of Fredericksburg, Virginia. The victims names were released Saturday morning and include three teenagers, according to Virginia State Police.
The 1969 Beech 95-B55 twin-engine plane was attempting to land at Shannon Airport just before 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Investigators with the NTSB and FAA have determined the plane touched down midway down the runway before the pilot attempted to abort the landing and execute a "go around," according to Virginia State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller.

"As it attempted to turn and climb, it appeared to have stalled as it made it beyond the railroad tracks at the end of the airport property," she said in a statement. "The plane banked left, crashed in the trees and immediately caught fire."

- Pilot William C. Hamerstadt, 64, of Carmel, Indiana
- Robert D. Ross, 73, of Louisville, Kentucky
- Lisa K. Borinstein, 52, of Shelbyville, Indiana
- Luke J. Borinstein, 19, of Shelbyville, Indiana
- Emma R. Borinstein, 15, of Shelbyville, Indiana
- Maren Timmermann, 15, of Berlin, Germany
The plane was owned by Ross and departed Louisville on Friday morning, with Fredericksburg as its final destination.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and state police and NTSB investigators were still at the scene Saturday morning, according to Geller.
