MONDAY, August 12
The Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority meets at 8:30 a.m. on the second floor of City Hall, 715 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg. The agenda is available online.
The Spotsylvania County School Board will hold a 4 p.m. work session and a 6:30 p.m. regular session Monday in the Administrative Services Building in River Run Business Center, 8020 River Stone Dr., Spotsylvania. The work session agenda and the regular session agenda are at the hyperlinks.
Fredericksburg's Architectural Review Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall. The agenda is attached.
Stafford Citizens for Open Government meet at 7 p.m. Monday at England Run Library, 806 Lyons Blvd., Fredericksburg, to hear from residents about concerns over Energy Extraction Partners' waste-to-energy plant proposal at the regional landfill.
Today is the deadline to apply for grant money for youth-led or youth-associated community programs. Grants range from $500 to $5,000. The Youth in Philanthropy grant application and more information are available on the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region website and by calling 540-373-9292.
Music on the Steps at the Headquarters Branch of Central Rappahannock Regional Library, 1201 Caroline St., Fredericksburg, features Harry, Larry, and Buck - Skiffle Lounge on the Sound from 7 - 8 p.m. The outdoor concert is free.
TUESDAY, August 13
The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce presents a Workforce NOW seminar on Conflict Resolution from 8 - 9:30 a.m. at Germanna Community College, 10000 Germanna Point Dr., Fredericksburg, in the Workforce & Technology Building.
The Stafford Board of Supervisors is scheduled to revisit the waste-to-energy plant proposal during the 3 p.m. portion of their Tuesday meeting in board chambers, 1300 Courthouse Rd., Stafford. The supervisors approved the plan 5 - 0 in June -- with one absent and Supervisor Cord Sterling abstaining. Live stream of the meeting is available.
Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors meets at 3 p.m. in board chambers at the Holbert Building, 9104 Courthouse Rd., Spotsylvania. The agenda is attached.
Fredericksburg City Council meets in work session at 5:30 p.m. followed by their regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 715 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg. The regular session agenda will be followed by a closed session to discuss the current status of negotiations for a multi-purpose baseball stadium with the Hagerstown Suns.
The Stafford School Board will meet in work session at 5 p.m. followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m. They are expected to discuss the waste-to-energy proposed project during their 7 p.m. meeting. Board member Holly Hazard would like like the Board of Supervisors to delay the project until studying potential impact to schools near the site. Stafford School Board Meetings are broadcast live on Comcast and Cox Cable Channel 18 and Verizon Fios Channel 38. They are re-broadcast in taped version on Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 1 p.m. and Tuesdays at 7 p.m.. Â
WEDNESDAY, August 14
The Stafford Roundtable meets today from 8 - 9 a.m. at Fairfield Inn and Suites, 2784 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Stafford.
Library Fun Fest Community Carnival with games, prizes, activities, popsicles and more for all ages. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at the Headquarters Branch of Central Rappahannock Regional Library, 1201 Caroline St., Fredericksburg. All ages are welcome to drop in for this free event.
Today is the deadline to register kids age 9 - 16 for the Keone Pierce's Speed, Agility & Fitness class offered 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesdays, August 14 - September 18 at Old Mill Park, 2200 Caroline St., Fredericksburg.
THURSDAY, August 15
The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce presents Medicaid Reform Regional Forum from 8 - 9:30 a.m. at Fredericksburg Country Club, 11031 Tidewater Trail, Fredericksburg.
The Mayfield Farmers Market is held 3 - 6 p.m. every Thursday at the corner of Dixon Street and Tyler Street in Fredericksburg.
2013 Art Films - "The Rape of Europa" from 7 - 9 p.m. at Headquarters Branch of Central Rappahannock Regional Library, 1201 Caroline St., Fredericksburg.
FRIDAY, August 16
The University of Mary Washington and the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce continue their Business 101 Seminars Aug. 16 with Customer Service 101B. The 8 - 9 a.m. session will be held at the UMW Center for Economic Development, Eagle Village, Suite 400, 1125 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Fredericksburg.
